Introducing ThriveLib: A New Virtual Conference Centering Library Worker Well-Being

I am thrilled to announce ThriveLib: Reclaiming Joy, Balance, and Boundaries in Libraries, a new virtual conference focused entirely on the emotional and psychological well-being of library workers.

Save the Dates August 12, 13, 14 2025
Online via Zoom and HeySummit

ThriveLib was born out of years of conversations, research, and lived experience as a librarian. As a profession, we’ve talked a lot about burnout, compassion fatigue, psychological safety, and other aspects of well-being AND the pressure to keep showing up despite shrinking resources and rising pressures and expectations. I wanted to create a space that centers the people doing the work, a conference where we can reflect, learn, and reimagine what it means to thrive in library work.

What makes ThriveLib different?
This isn’t your standard professional development event. ThriveLib is grounded in care, accessibility, and equity. That means:

  • All speakers are paid for their time and expertise

  • Tickets are available on a sliding scale, so cost isn’t a barrier

  • We’re using tools like Zoom, HeySummit, and Gmail to keep it simple, connected, and low-cost

  • All sessions will be recorded and available for 30 days, and provide a certificate of completion because rest are learning are part of wellness.

  • We’re guided by a small but mighty Advisory Board of experienced professionals helping shape the vision and direction of this first year, and hopefully guide future years.

This is the first year, and like any good pilot project, it’s a little bit of an experiment. We are starting small and intentionally. The goal is to offer something thoughtful and grounded, and to create space for library workers at every level to reconnect with themselves and their purpose.

I hope you’ll join us. Registration will open in early July.

Sign up for the newsletter or follow the conference on Bluesky, join the LinkedIn Group (because well-being should be an ongoing discussion)
